When it comes to choosing the perfect family getaway, Turkey has become a destination we return to time and time again. Between the weather always being amazing, amazing food and endless activities for every age, it truly has something for everyone.
We already have our heart set on booking to go back again this summer, it is hands-down one of our favourite places to visit as a family.
Sunshine and sea
For sun-chasers like me, who love to sit and melt in the sunshine with a good book, Turkey ticks every box. The weather is gloriously warm. On our last trip, we had a beach just steps from our room, the perfect setup for hammock lounging with an iced coffee in hand and the latest Freida McFadden novel.
Also, packing some card games makes for such a great day at the beach. Plenty of water and some classics like UNO will keep the kiddies entertained for hours.
Waterparks that go beyond expectations
If your kids love a good water slide, Turkey’s waterparks are chef's kiss. Aqua Fantasy, set right by the sea in Selçuk, has become a must-do every time we are there. With toddler-friendly zones full of playful creatures, adrenaline-pumping rides for the older kids and a lazy river, which is our favourite, it’s basically a floating sun lounger; it’s a full-day adventure that wears everyone out in the best way.
A day at the market
It’s become a bit of a tradition for our family to browse the local markets in the afternoon. The stalls are packed with so much, you never know what you will come across from one trip to the next.
Flavours to remember
The food in Turkey is SO good!. From Grilled koftas and the most delicious salads to fresh seafood, the food never gets boring, and there is always something new to try. Turkey is actually where Nila discovered her love for seafood—now she can’t get enough of it :)
The Turkish bath experience
Mums on holiday can sometimes find themselves a little stressed, we have all been there, the role of the default parent, even while “relaxing.” A Turkish bath experience is the ultimate way to hit reset. It’s more than just a scrub and massage; it’s a full rejuvenation for both body and mind. After the steam and foam massage, you’ll come out feeling lighter, cleaner, and totally refreshed. And the divine scent of those traditional soaps? Pure bliss, you can even buy them to take home after your session :)
Entertainment that fits everyone
Turkey doesn’t just cater to adults looking to relax; it’s designed with families in mind. There’s always something going on: boat trips, spa afternoons, kids' clubs, themed evenings, and outdoor games. Whether we were chilling poolside or heading out for an evening of live music, no one was ever bored.
