I honestly can not believe Alessia is 16. It feels like just yesterday she was obsessed with Shopkins and would sit for hours playing Tomodachi Life on her Nintendo DS. Time really does go by so fast. She has finished school now, done her GCSEs and is getting ready for college life. Such a big new chapter in her life. I can’t even explain how proud I am of her.
She is such a kind, thoughtful soul, and we really just get each other. We are both empaths and tend to feel things a million times stronger than most people, which can be a lot, but also such a gift.
For her birthday this year, she had her heart set on going to see Billie Eilish. She was completely fixated on it and had been talking about it nonstop. I did have a look early on, but I couldn’t get any tickets at the time, which broke my heart a bit because I knew how much she wanted it.
Then on the morning of her birthday, after we had opened her presents and were getting ready for her birthday meal, I randomly checked Hello Tickets and somehow, there were some available, the universe telling me to go!. I didn’t even think, I just did it. My bank balance definitely felt the hit, let me tell you, but I managed to get us two tickets for the show the next day.
I genuinely couldn’t believe I’d pulled it off. We went out for dinner that night and I surprised her with the tickets, and oh my god, she cried her eyes out. It was the best moment. That reaction alone made it all worth it. Money comes and goes, but memories like that last a lifetime.
The next day we got the train into Manchester, picked out our outfits, had dinner, laughed until our bellies hurt, and then had the most amazing night at the concert. We both love Billie Eilish and, fun fact, this was actually both of our first-ever concerts.
The vibe, the energy, the singing at the top of our lungs was just everything. Honestly, one of the best nights of our lives. We will never forget it.
