Summer holidays are here, and if you're anything like me, you're always on the lookout for quick and fun activities to get through those long afternoons before dinner. One brand I always come back to is Baker Ross — their kits are super easy to use and always a hit with the kids!
This afternoon we gave one of their science kits a go, and it did not disappoint...
VOLCANIC ERUPTIONS!
Nila’s tried a fair few volcano kits over the years, but this one? Definitely the most epic so far. It was really easy to set up, and she was totally into it from start to finish.
What’s in the Box?
You get everything you need to create your own mini volcanic eruption:
Volcano model
Bicarbonate of soda
Tartaric acid
Food pigment
Measuring scoop
Protective goggles
How to Use:
Set up your volcano. Nila even added a toy dinosaur to make it feel like a proper prehistoric scene, definitely gave off the vibes :)
Then it’s time to mix your eruption potion:
10ml warm water
½ spoonful of tartaric acid
A few drops of red colouring
Give it a stir
Add ½ teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda and…
BOOM! Instant eruption!
Honestly, Nila’s face said it all. She was buzzing! We ended up doing the eruption five times, and still have ingredients left for more. She wants to have a play date and show her best friends, so there is plenty left over for that. Such a fun and hands-on way to sneak in some learning while having a blast.
If you are after affordable summer activities for kids, especially for rainy days or those moments when boredom hits, this one is a winner. Baker Ross has loads of fun craft and science kits, and they are all great value.
