SELF CARE TIPS FOR 2024

Self-care isn’t about just finding ways to relax. It’s about taking care of yourself mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually and socially. Prioritising self-care can actually help reduce stress and anxiety. It can also help with depression, increase your happiness, increase your energy levels and allow you to build a better relationship with yourself and others.

Here are some of my top self-care tips this year…

MOVE YOUR BODY

Whatever moving your body means to you, find something you enjoy. I love the gym but the gym isn't for everybody. Moving your body should never feel like a chore, it should always feel joyful and fun so whether it’s going for a walk with a podcast or dancing to the latest hits - get that body moving, and release them good endorphins!

HAVE FUN!

Doing things that are fun and releasing your inner child is so important!. Even if it’s sitting and braiding your hair with the music on full blast. Doing things that are fun to you and that make you feel like you are a child again and being present in that moment.

MAKE MORE TIME FOR YOU

Prioritise ‘you’ time. make it part of your routine and let it stick!. If you have children, make time to squeeze ‘you’ time in. That might be a bubble bath, skincare, reading your book, or taking solo coffee dates at the end of the week.

Anything that requires time for you and just you, do it :)

CHANGE YOUR SELF TALK

This is for everyone who negatively talks to themselves. You know exactly what I mean. Stop!. You wouldn’t talk to others like that so don’t do it to yourself.

It’s a conscious effort at first. Set your morning alarm with the label What do you love about yourself, soon enough you will be waking up telling yourself you are amazing because you really are.

KNOW YOURSELF

Now this one is a little harder but is so important and the biggest self-care you can ever do for yourself. Know yourself, what are your triggers? Saying yes to everyone when you want to say no?. Set them boundaries. Friends/ family members, always being the one who arranges dates, stop.

Know what you need from others and do not settle for anything less.

If you do or change anything this year, let it be that you do lots more caring for yourself!.
