I have just come back from an amazing trip exploring Split,Croatia with Jet2. I have never been before so it was the perfect opportunity to get a good feel of the country, do lots of sight seeing and see whether or not Croatia would be a good place for a family holiday. There are a few boxes I like to tick off when it comes to checking for family friendly places and I think I can add Croatia to my list of family adventures.
SHORT FLIGHTS
First thing I always look at are the flights and the duration. Nila is 6 and although we can keep her entertained with the iPad and snacks, a shorter flight is something we look for before anything else. The Jet2 flights to Split are 2 hours which is perfect.
Just enough time to watch a movie, do some colouring in or even have a little nap. By the time we finished having a little natter and had a snack we were landing in Croatia, great flight time for little ones.
BUDGET FRIENDLY
We always try and work out a budget for our holidays and nine times out of ten stick to them. I was quite surprised with the cost of the package holidays to Croatia. Well within our budget and even spending money left over.
4 nights in the summer holidays for a family of two adults and two children I found for £1,698. You can add or adjust depending on whether you want to self cater, all inclusive or half board. Its nice to go out for dinner as a treat while you are away, who doesn't love a few days off not having to cook right?.
Jet2 packages include the holiday, flights, 10KG hand luggage as well as 22KG suitcase allowance, which I barely used half!.
FAMILY FUN
Kids club, park, entertainment, some of the Split hotels have everything you need when it comes to keeping the kiddie's amused. The Hotel Le Meridien Lav which can be booked through Jet2holidays had a lovely kids area.
If you want to get out more with the children, there are water parks, beaches with everything you need to pack up a picnic and spend the whole day out, horseback riding or if you have teenagers and Game of Throne's fans then exploring some of the areas where the series was made would give you parent brownie points :)
Its been a lovely trip away and we are already looking at some holidays for the end of the year. Have you ever been to Croatia ?
