Tis the season for game night! When summer is here, we are barely ever in. Always out doing something, going on little adventures, staying out later because it’s still light and making the most of the warmer weather. Then autumn rolls around, the weather gets a little cooler, the nights get darker, and suddenly staying in on a Saturday night sounds perfect!.
Honestly, nothing beats a proper games night with the kiddies. Snacks on the table, pj's on, a glass of wine, dont shoot me!, and something we can all play together. We love a board game in our house; Cluedo is an absolute favourite, but we’re Nintendo Switch girls through and through. We’ve actually got back into Just Dance again recently, and I’d forgotten how much fun we have!.
We’ve got a few new games on our list for this autumn and, with Christmas creeping up seriously fast, I thought I’d share some of the new family releases from Outright Games that I think would make brilliant Christmas gifts this year.
There are definitely two that have already got my attention; anything involving The Grinch at Christmas is obviously going to win me over, and then I spotted Cluedo in the Hasbro Games Junior Collection and immediately thought YES!!!.
THE GRINCH 2: SAVING CHRISTMAS
Starting with the one that is giving me ALL the festive feels, The Grinch is back!
The Grinch 2: Saving Christmas is a new 3D platforming adventure where you join the Grinch and his very loyal little sidekick Max as they travel through Who-ville, Mt. Crumpit and beyond, trying to create the most spectacular Christmas tree ever.
There are snowy worlds to explore, ornaments to collect, hidden secrets to find and puzzles to solve along the way. This just sounds like such a cosy December game to me. Christmas tree on, twinkly lights, snacks out and The Grinch on the Switch - YES PLEASE.
HASBRO GAMES JUNIOR COLLECTION
Now THIS ONE!!!
We absolutely love Cluedo. It’s probably our favourite board game and gets very competitive in our house, so the second I saw Cluedo Junior included in this collection I knew we needed to have it!
Hasbro Games Junior Collection brings together three family favourites, Monopoly Junior, Cluedo Junior and Game of Life Junior. You can roll, race and solve your way through the different games, so I think this would be such a good one to pull out for family game night.
It’s due for release on 6th November, which also makes it perfect timing for a Christmas present.
PAW PATROL: DINO WORLD
If you’ve got a little PAW Patrol fan in the house, this one is going to be a winner.
PAW Patrol: Dino World takes the pups to prehistoric Dino Island for a brand-new adventure. You can explore the island, complete rescue missions, and help dinosaurs in need, and there’s local co-op too, which I always think is a bonus with children's games because you can actually sit down and play together.
THE CAT IN THE HAT: RAINY DAY MAYHEM
This sounds like absolute chaos, so obviously perfect for my house! :) .
The Cat in the Hat: Rainy Day Mayhem is a family party game where you can play as Sally, Johnny, Thing 1, Thing 2 and more.
There are two different game modes, including a fast-paced game of hide-and-seek where you have to hunt down the Cat, plus 18 different minigames.
I love games like this when you've got everyone playing together because you don't have to sit there learning 72 rules before you can start. Get everyone involved and let the chaos commence!
SESAME STREET: FRIENDS & FUN
For the littlest gamers, there’s Sesame Street: Friends & Fun.
This one has been designed as an accessible first gaming experience for preschoolers, which is really cute and an easy one for tired children to play without having to think so much; we all know how overstimulated Nila can get :).
They can create their own character, explore familiar locations around the neighbourhood and join in with different tasks and minigames.
I am so ready for cosy family nights in again. Don't get me wrong, I love summer and being out all the time, but there is something about getting home when it’s dark outside, putting the comfies on, grabbing ALL the snacks and settling down for the evening together.
