CODENAMES | REVIEW

We have teamed up with playtime PR and have joined the Asmodee UK Blogger Board Game Club . Over the next 5 months we will be given a board game to test out and let you all know what we think about it, whether it is suitable for everyone in the family and if we would recommended it to you lovely bunch.

This month we have been trialling out the game Codenames. At a glance i didn't think this would be our cup of tea.

It is essentially a game for two teams, minimum of two players on each team. There are 25 cards that are laid out that show the codenames of 25 secret agents. One player on each team acts as the spymaster and must give their team mates clues as to which of the cards belong to their colour.

The little grid is what the spymaster is working with.It is their job to guide you into getting your colour card correct- the grid almost reminds me on battleships. If you get multiple codes right then you are on a roll and ahead, if you get it wrong then you give points to your opponents.

The game is quite straight forward, the instructions that come with the game seemed to confuse us and are not laid out in order, so we struggled at first, but once we played a few games, it its pretty easy and so much fun.

The game is aimed at 10 years+, we played it with both our older girls who are 9 and 14, and they were absolutely fine with it. Some words that Alessia had to give clues for where a little harder than some, but i think that also helps children learn along the way.

The game play time lasts roughly half an hour, which is perfect for a quick game after dinner or before bed. We rate this game 7/10/

- We were sent this game for an honest review as part of the Asmodee UK Blogger Board Game Club
