Christmas time, especially, is one of our favourite times to reconnect. It’s such a shame we don’t manage it as much as I would like throughout the year, but there is something about the magic of the festive season that naturally brings families together.
Over the last few weeks, we have started having Friday night game nights, and we have all become a little bit hooked on the Nintendo Switch. So much so, the elves even brought us a new game this year, which makes it feel extra special.
Here are some of the Nintendo Switch games we are loving this Christmas.
The Elf on the Shelf Christmas Heroes
Our elves on the shelf, Apple, Tinsel, Jingels and Flower surprised us one morning with The Elf on the Shelf Christmas Heroes, and it’s safe to say it was such a hit.
Do you believe in Christmas magic? You will need every bit of it to help Santa save Christmas. With Christmas spirit running low, the North Pole isn’t so merry. Santa’s sleigh won’t fly, gifts aren’t ready, and there’s a real risk that nice children won’t make it onto Santa’s list.
In this game, you train to become an official Scout Elf. You can pick festive outfits, explore different rooms, dodge obstacles and add sparkle to every corner of the home, all while spreading Christmas cheer.
Nila absolutely loves this game and has been playing it most evenings after school. It’s festive, fun, and really captures that Christmas magic we all love this time of year.
The Grinch Christmas Adventures Merry & Mischievous Edition
Has The Grinch really grown to love Christmas… or should we still be suspicious?
In The Grinch: Christmas Adventures, you snowboard, sleigh and even parachute through Who-ville, spreading Christmas cheer (in your own Grinchy way). You collect presents, help The Grinch’s heart grow three sizes, and take on awfully fun festive challenges alongside Max.
Will The Grinch save Christmas… or steal it? It’s up to you. This game was made for December and has been perfect for getting everyone into the festive spirit.
Chicken Run Eggstraction
Chicken Run: Eggstraction has been another game that the girls have been enjoying. Based on the film, it’s a fun interactive adventure where you help the chickens on their mission.
It’s easy to pick up, great for all ages, and one of those games that you won't want to put down. Chicken run is so nostalgic to me, it's a personal favourite too! :)
Dora the Explorer
This game stays true to Dora's educational roots, incorporating authentic Spanish words and phrases that children can learn naturally through gameplay.
Parents and children can explore and learn together using 2-player local co-op, which makes it perfect for family gaming nights. It’s been lovely to play this together and see learning woven into the fun so seamlessly, a great choice for a new generation of little explorers.
Bratz Rhythm & Style
Rule the runway and take the stage with Cloe, Yasmin, Sasha, and Jade as you create custom fashions in the Bratz Fashion Studios. You can showcase your signature looks, groove to songs from the Bratz universe, including So Good, my eldest is 22, and we both LOVE this song!, and travel to iconic cities from Paris to Tokyo.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Bratz without a little drama. Burdine and the Tweevil Twins are determined to steal the spotlight. Can you out-style and out-dance them in epic fashion battles?
You can party in single or multiplayer with up to four players, making it perfect for Christmas play dates.
Have you played any of these games, or are they on your Christmas wish list to Santa :)
