Turkey meatballs are a firm favourite and my homemade sauce is the perfect combination. I love using turkey mince instead of beef as it’s a lot cheaper and better for you.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• For the meatballs
500G turkey mince
2 tablespoons of basil
2 tablespoons of parsley
Salt and pepper
1 egg
•Sauce
650G passata
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon parsley
1 tablespoon basil
1 tablespoon onion salt
Pepper
2 cloves of garlic
2 tablespoons of light brown sugar
METHOD
preheat your oven gas mark 5 / 200C . Add all your meatball ingredients into a bowl and mix away. Make sure all the herbs are mixed in equally and all your mince has a coating of herbs .
Spray your frying pan with a little fry light and fry them off until brown. Once they are browned off , place them in a tray and cover with your sauce . You can blend your sauce for a more smooth and thicker texture , or leave it as it is. I’ve done both , but prefer when blended.
Cover with tin foil or a lid and pop in the oven for an hour and a half, stirring half way . When you’ve got 20 minutes left on your meatballs ,pop your spaghetti on and then serve when done .
Do let me know if you try this recipe , I’d love to know what you think :).
