Turning 40 doesn’t scare me, but it does feel like a bit of a milestone. A little nudge from the universe saying, “Hey, this is your one precious life—are you living it the way you really want to?”. I’ve got three amazing daughters who remind me daily that life moves fast. I’ve built a business from scratch, working with clients I love, all while squeezing in gym sessions, coffee-fuelled deadlines and the school run. I’ve also blogged my way through the chaos, writing about everything from fashion and baking to days out and those magical, mundane moments in between.
So this list, it's not just about ticking things off. It’s about being present.About joy.About carving out moments that matter and reconnecting with life, myself and everything in between.
Here’s my 40 Before 40.
Life & Self
Pass my driving test (I will do it—manifesting that certificate in my hand )
Feel totally, unapologetically confident in who I am
Say “no” without overexplaining
Book a professional photoshoot
Speak on a panel or podcast about motherhood, business, or both
Celebrate my wins more—big, small, and everything in between
Journal every morning for 30 days
Let myself rest without needing to “earn” it
Reconnect with something creative just for the joy of it
Learn to crochet
Bring my tarot cards back out and connect more
Manifest more—dream bigger, get clearer, believe deeper
Spend more time in nature, fully present (no phones, just fresh air)
Fitness, Wellbeing & Fun
Try a new fitness challenge (something strength-based or wild—I'm open!)
Try running / charity run or walk maybe
Take a solo wellness weekend—even one night would be bliss
Drink more water (still working on it, always)
Invest in proper, feel-good gym stuff
Try a totally new active hobby or class
Travel, Family & Memories
Take the girls on a surprise adventure
Go away with just my partner—no kids, no guilt
Spend a weekend somewhere warm on my own
See a place I’ve never been before
Go on a last-minute, no-itinerary weekend away
Plan a mini road trip just because
Print out photos and actually make a photo album
Watch the sunrise with a coffee and no distractions
Connection, Growth & Feel-Good Stuff
Reconnect with an old friend over lunch or coffee
Do something that scares me (in a good way)
Curate a little monthly ritual just for me—like solo cinema nights
Go on a mid-week date night, just because we can
Organise a girls' weekend—wine, laughs, no responsibilities
Be proud of the woman I’ve become and the life I’ve built
Say out loud what I want from life—even the big, scary things
Keep reading for pleasure (more fiction, less shoulds)
Make time for joy that isn’t productive
Keep sharing the mundane, the messy, the magic on my blog, on my socials, wherever I feel like it
Work, Creativity & Soul Projects
Be proud—really proud—of what I’ve built in my work life
Share more of me in my work—more reels, more voice, more “this is what I actually think”
Start something new—a podcast, a series, a project I’ve only dared to dream about
This isn’t about proving anything.
It’s about coming home to myself.
It’s about making space—for joy, for growth, for softness.
It’s about walking confidently into this next chapter with a messy bun, a happy heart and a to-do list that feels more like a love letter to life.
If you are reading this and feeling like you want your own version, start it. Let this be your nudge.
Here's to growing, glowing, and turning 40 in style.
