HOW TO AVOID BURNOUT THIS CHRISTMAS TIME

We are in the second week of December and I know a lot of us will have Christmas all covered but some will be flapping and panicking and forgetting what’s most important this time of year.

Christmas for us is all about family, the little one I have at home, and making the most memories we can. Burnout this time of year is real and most of us seem to feel it one way or another.

With just over 2 weeks to go until the big day I have put together a few tips on how to avoid the Christmas burnout this year.

MAKE A LIST

First things first, sit down and make a list. What do you still need to get for the kiddies, what food you need to pick up and start from there, ticking off as you go.

LITTLE BY LITTLE

Ticking off little by little, not heading into town and spending 7 hours shopping til you drop. I’ve been picking up bits and pieces as I go as it’s so much less stressful!.

TAKE 5

Take 5 out of your day to unwind. If you are constantly running at 100mph you are going to absolutely wear yourself out!.

SELF CARE

Try taking a self care evening. A nice hot pamper bath with lots of bubbles or treat yourself to one of your Lush Christmas favourites and spend some time recuperating :)

PREP/WRAP AS YOU GO

This one is something I have tried to do over the past two years. Prep and wrap as I go. One year on Xmas Eve I was wrapping presents until 4am!!!!!, yes 4am, never again. So wrap little bits as I go makes such a difference .

Lastly don’t over do it .Christmas really should be a time to be happy and cherish the things you do have and who you have , rather than getting so caught up in making everything ‘perfect’ that Christmas goes by with a flash and you miss it all.

  1. These are great tips. It's so easy to overextend yourself financially, physically, and emotionally during the holidays.

  2. Wrapping as you go doesn't work for me, I forget what has been purchased and wrapped and get nervous about it! But staying up until 4 am is a lot too! I hope you have a great Christmas.

  3. We're doing exactly as you're recommending, small steps, working on lists, and focusing on enjoying the tasks...I love the season.
