TWYCROSS ZOO & THE GRUFFALO DISCOVERY LAND

We have been wanting to take a day trip out to Twycross Zoo for quite a few years now, so many amazing animals to see including my favourite, Giraffes, so we picked the weekend to go on an adventure and explore it all.

Upon arrival you get your QR code scanned that you receive via booking in your emails and then head on in.

ADMISSION PRICES

Adults £26.95

Child (3-17) £19.75

Under 3's Free

Day admission tickets also gets you free entry into the park for 12 months, which I think is fantastic and great value for money, and if you are looking for birthday gift ideas for children, 12 months of unlimited zoo visits sounds brilliant!.

In front of the entrance is a big map, we took a picture of this and the times the feed and talk shows were on so we could plan our day out.

TWYCROSS ZOO

We headed to the Zebras first and I was awe struck. It isn't often you come across zebras casually strolling by getting treats out of a treat ball right!.

Zoos for me are a little bittersweet, I love seeing all the beautiful animals but I dont like seeing them confined, it reminds me of the freedom they lost but I will say Twycross Zoo stands out for its dedication to animal care, providing environments that closely mimic the animals' natural habitats and ensuring they are well looked after.

We stopped for lunch. There are a few places you can purchase food around the park, as well as hot drinks and ice creams. We took our own pack lunches, which is great for keeping costs down. Plenty of picnic benches to sit and eat scattered around.

We also picked up a coffee, they have a Costa stand - it was needed as the rain decided to make an appearance!.

Lots of other amazing animals - giraffes were incredible and Nila couldn't believe she saw a real-life Rhino.

So many different monkeys. The Emperor Tamarin monkeys are the cutest things I have ever seen in my life and they were snuggled up to each other which was adorable.

Twycross Zoo is the only UK zoo and one of few worldwide that is home to all four great ape species.

That’s chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans and bonobos.

THE GRUFFALO DISCOVERY LAND

We then explored The Gruffalo land. Discover mouse, Fox, Owl, Snake and of course the Gruffalo himself along the interactive journey through the deep dark wood.

You get to see real-life owls, snakes, butterflies and more throughout. We missed the meet and greet Gruffalo but could see him from the other side of the walk :)

Other things to do are the soft play which isn't included in the admission price.

Lots of park areas which we managed a little before the rain, and also a splash park which we can't wait to do next summer.

It has been a lovely day - spent over 5 hours at the zoo and would definitely come back.
