Autumn is here and I will be honest, I am struggling. Don’t get me wrong, I love this time of year , Halloween, pumpkin spice everything and Christmas, but trying to get back on track with routine has been an absolute struggle.
I have recently started my own business on top of one of the busiest times of the year for me and I feel like there are not enough hours in the day or days in the week. I have started putting some things into my routine to get everything off my list done and to also stop the ‘ I haven’t got enough time’ for the things that I am actually, making excuses for .
HABIT STACKING
Habit stacking is something I have looked into over the past few weeks and it honestly makes so much sense.
The idea is to stack a habit you already do with one you are trying to add to your routine. This is also perfect for things that you are trying to implement that really don’t excite you- for me, this is getting my 10K steps in.
I have started the 75 soft challenge after gaining a little bit of weight over the summer and essentially just not feeling great in myself.
10K steps is one of my aims. To move my body move, when I do, it makes me feel so good but actually getting to the point where I want to walk is a challenge in itself, especially this time of year when it’s dark and miserable.
Every morning before I log on for work I make a coffee and watch Eastenders - it’s the calm before the storm, my work days are manic and this little treat sets me up for a busy day.
I have been using this time to walk on the pad whilst watching EastEnders, I get half of my daily steps in and haven’t ’wasted’ any time that I ‘don’t have’.
Habit stacking has been a game changer and there are so many different things you can stack to not only get things done without feeling overwhelmed with your to-do list, but also you are creating habits that will become natural rather than feel like a chore.
I’d love to know if you have habit stacked before…
I love the idea of habit stacking, and it makes so much sense, especially when it comes to fitting in those 10K steps.
