HOTEL CATALONIA PUERTA DEL MAR REVIEW | JET2HOLIDAYS CITY BREAK IN MÁLAGA

I have a little ritual before every trip I go on. I go down the rabbit hole of hotel reviews. Not the shiny, picture-perfect ones, I'm talking juicy, real-life stories. Who better to trust than people who have already tested the pillows, the breakfast, and the patience of reception staff right. It’s basically detective work for holiday hunters, and it usually leads me to some gems.

After spending a few nights at the Hotel Catalonia Puerta Del Mar, I thought I’d share my honest thoughts so you know what to expect if you are planning a city break to Málaga.

Checking In

Check-in was really quick and smooth. Our official check-in time was 3 p.m., and we were greeted by friendly staff who handed us key cards, Wi-Fi details, and information on dining times. One of our rooms wasn’t quite ready, but the staff offered out another room straight away or the option to wait so we could all be on the same floor.

Rooms

The rooms at Hotel Catalonia Puerta Del Mar are gorgeous. Soft lighting and my room smelt stunning!. The bathroom was fully stocked with shampoo, conditioner, vanity kits, towels, and even a hairdryer. There is also a mini-fridge filled with cold drinks, chocolate, and champagne for anyone celebrating something special :)

The tea and coffee are topped up daily, and housekeeping arrives every morning. They even left me little handwritten notes after cleaning, which completely melted my heart. The air conditioning was another win. I stayed in October when Málaga was still warm, so air con was needed.

Food

Breakfast was included, and let me tell you, the croissants are so buttery and flaky, I couldn't not have one every morning. I even took one home for Alessia, croissant approval achieved!. There was also fresh fruit, yoghurt, a full cooked breakfast, omelettes made to order, tea, and coffee. A great breakfast set-up.

We also popped down to the bar one evening after cake-hunting. The atmosphere was so lovely and the staff were really welcoming.

Facilities

The hotel has an air-conditioned gym with cardio machines, free weights and strength equipment. I always say I am going to use the gym when I go away, ask the girls, but let’s be honest, holiday calories don’t count, right?, maybe next time :)

Location and Extras

The Hotel Catalonia Puerta Del Mar couldn’t be in a better spot. It’s in the heart of Málaga, with everything you need just a short walk away, beaches, shops, wine bars and enough tapas to see you through your weekend trip!.

Flights from Liverpool Airport take just a couple of hours, and Málaga Airport is only about 20 minutes from the hotel, so you can land, check in, and be sipping sangria in no time.

I had such a lovely few days exploring the city. If you are looking to book your stay at Hotel Catalonia Puerta Del Mar with Jet2holidays, go for it. I’d 100% stay here again.
