One thing we have said we want to do more of in 2026 is spend proper time together. We used to have game nights every Friday, but somewhere along the way they fizzled out, the joys of busy life and not always making time for each other. So we are starting again, and this time with a way to keep it going. We have been loving our Nintendo Switch again, and after the girls got a load of new games for Christmas, it felt like the perfect excuse to bring Friday game nights back.
Gabby’s Dollhouse: Ready to Party has been a big hit already. Nila has been obsessed with Gabby's Dollhouse for years!. It’s an easy game, so no frustration and full of creativity, with lots of little worlds to explore where the girls can craft, dance, bake and play. It’s one of those games that doesn’t feel rushed, perfect for playing together and letting their imaginations run a bit wild.
NBA Bounce has surprised us all with how much fun it is. It’s easy to pick up, not too stressful, if you know, you know, and great for quick games where everyone can join in. Choosing teams, playing together, and having a laugh at missed shots makes it a great one for family game nights.
For the younger ones in the family, Paw Patrol Rescue Wheels: Championship is great. Racing, jumping, transforming vehicles and pulling off stunts is all fun and exciting, great for parents and little ones to play together.
Bluey: The Video Game feels like slowing everything down in the best way. It's full of those little moments that make Bluey so loved in the first place. We all love Bluey, and not afraid to admit it! :)
And then there’s Barbie: Horse Trails, which has brought a lovely change of pace. Riding through open spaces, looking after Lucky, completing small missions and just exploring together feels calm and comforting. It’s a game that encourages curiosity and creativity, and it’s been perfect for quieter game night moments, but has also made Nila want a horse for her birthday!
Bringing back Friday game nights isn’t about being perfect or amazing every time; it’s about choosing to show up, put the phones down, and enjoy being together again.
Have you set any new family traditions for 2026?
