One thing we love to do is bake and make homemade snacks for the week. The girls love getting involved too and I think cooking and baking is a great skill to have .
I decided to make some flapjacks for the girls today for an after school snack, I’m sure you all get the ‘I’m hungry or I’m starving’ when you pick the kiddies up from school.
Also these are a great weekend treat too and the simplest thing to make in the world ! :)
INGREDIENTS
100g porridge oats
3 tablespoons of peanut butter - you can use any nut butter .
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of Nutella
METHOD
Pop your porridge oats in a bowl along With your peanut butter and honey. If your using a brand like sunpat you will need to microwave the peanut butter for a few seconds so it’s a bit more of a runny consistency. Meridian or the Aldi Version of meridian is great as it is naturally runnier which makes it perfect for this type of recipe.
Mix it all up . It will cover all your oats , you just need to mix , mix and mix . Once it is all mixed in and your oats are covered with the peanut butter and honey. Place in a tray lined with greaseproof paper. Our tray I used is 15cm by 5cm.
Pat it down and make sure it is compact and covers all the surface area nice and tight. Now microwave your nutulla and drizzle it over the top.
Pop in the fridge for 2 hours and then cut into portion sizes . I get 10 flapjacks out of this batch . Put them in a Tupperware container and they last for 5 days - that’s if the kiddies haven’t eaten them first :)
Do let me know if you recreate this recipe and let me know what you think .
