Next on our board games review list is when I dream. I’ve got to admit I really love the front of the box. It did catch my eye and that can definitely be something that attracts me to a new game and gets me reading the box.
Inside the box is 11 dream spirit cards , point tokens, plastic bed , sleeping mask , timer , 110 double sided dream cards and the instructions.
The game is all about imagination and dreams which we absolutely love!
It is suitable for aged 8+ and for between 4-10 players.
The aim of the game is to take it in turns to be the dreamer and to try and figure out your dream and which spirits are the bad ones and which are the good.
Once the board and bed is set up one player takes the role of the dreamer on and ‘falls asleep’. The other players are dealt their role cards which will determine if they are a good or bad spirit or if they are just ‘tricksters’ changing sides as the game goes on, sounds good doesn’t it ?
Everyone takes their turn to describe the element to the dreamer using one word . The dreamer has to guess what the element of the dream is . If they believe it’s a good dream then they place it on the good spirits side and vice Versa with the bad.
At the end of the round the dreamer and the good spirits get a point for every card in their pile . When the naughty spirit gets the cards they only get the points. The trickster gets points according to how balanced the two sides were at the end of the round , so they can gain extra points if they managed to balance out the piles .
The dreamer must now use the words they guessed and story tell their dream for extra points before they take the sleeping mask off.
We really enjoyed this game and I think it’s great for creative play and getting kids imagination going .If your looking for a board game a little different and unusual then I’d definitely recommend this one :)
