4 FUN SUMMER ACTIVITIES FOR YOU AND YOUR KIDS :)

Summer is here and kids will be out of school and back home once again. Unlike previous summers, this year will likely be more subdued with parents taking extra precautions to keep the little ones safe.

Even if you can’t travel far from home, this however doesn’t mean that you can’t have a great time. In fact, this summer is the perfect time for you and your loved ones to reconnect with one another in the wake of everything that’s been going on.

To help you and your family get started for 2020’s summer, here are some activities I’ve got planned for my family this summer.

1. Arts and Crafts

Take it from us when we say that arts and crafts are one of the most underrated summertime activities. Whether we’re indulging or having some serious fun, arts and crafts brings out the big kid inside all of us.

So, when the kids are at home all day this summer, why not plan a fun day of arts and crafts for them. For the younger ones, arts are a great way to help them refine their motor skills whilst also teaching them colorrecognition and basic math.

Older children can improve their artistic skills whilst learning how to express themselves through another medium. As a parent, you’ll find that the time spent together with your kids has the potential to be extremely therapeutic and rewarding in equal measures.

2. Prepare Meals Together

The kitchen is the heart of every home which makes it all the more unfortunate when children don’t have a place in the kitchen. Preparing meals together as a family brings everyone closer together and can also be an excellent opportunity to educate kids on kitchen safety and nutrition.

In the kitchen, teach your children to safely handle dangerous objects such as knives whilst being careful around the stove and open flames.

Getting your kids involved during meal prep also gives them the chances to learn more about food nutrition and hygiene. While your 4-year old may not be ready to chop vegetables, he/she can be taught how to wash fruits and vegetables or help you roll dough.

Instead of treating meal prep as a chore, make your kids feel included and you’ll find the entire process so much more enjoyable.

3. Have a CookOut

Kids love having a sense of variety in their life and something as simple as having dinner in the garden could really make their day. Rather than eating out, why not have a picnic in the garden.

Get the grill out of the shed and grill up some burgers and steaks for the kids. Pair all of this with some wine for the adults and soda for the kids and you’ll be able to have your own summer party going in no time.

Alternatively, you could make a few sandwiches along with biscuits and tea for a perfectly enjoyable summer evening in the garden. Have a kickaround with the kids or maybe go for a walk, summer’s the perfect time for planning and outdoor activities.

4. Go for a Staycation

Now could be the perfect time to go for a staycation. While overseas travel is out of the question, there are plenty of things to be seen and enjoyed in the UK.

Furthermore, given the state of things, hotel room prices are likely to be at their most attractive as of now. Thus, giving you and your family the opportunity to enjoy some of the UK’s finest hotels on a budget.

Before you go packing your bags, take the time to pick out a hotel that practices good hygiene and enforces social distancing. Also, check out for the nightlife but choose places with outdoor spaces, with enough space to avoid overcrowding.

So, there you go, those are 4 of the best summer vacation ideas that will keep you and your family entertained on a budget. What else should we have included on our list? Stay safe and enjoy your Summer.
