THE BEST SPANISH ISLANDS FOR FAMILY TRIPS

Sun, sea, and sand. Spain's islands have long been a favourite destination for families. Although most islands are ideal for families, some are better than others, offering a vast range of family-friendly adventures. If you're thinking of going to Spain for a family holiday but not sure which island to visit, here's our guide to the best Spanish islands for family trips.

  1. Menorca

When searching for the best island for a family holiday, look no further than Menorca. It's one of the most popular Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and enjoys a good climate most of the year. Menorca is ideal for those seeking relaxation since the island is quieter and more laid back than the other Balearic Islands, such as Ibiza and Majorca. It has stunning white sandy beaches with warm shallow waters, safe for your little ones to swim.

The best thing to do with your kids in Menorca is to hang out at the beach. The island is home to many beautiful white sand beaches that are safe for the kids. One is Cala Galdana, a massive bay with soft white sands and shallow turquoise waters. Another area popular with families is Son Saura, which has two sandy beaches separated by a rocky point.

If you've had enough of the beaches, and want to check something else, go to Lloc de Menorca Zoo. It's a great place to visit for those who love wildlife. The zoo houses species native to Menorca, such as cows, goats, horses, fish, birds, and tortoises. There are also interactive areas where kids can play with animals. Going for a jeep safari is also a fun activity for families, especially those with kids over the age of six. On your jeep safari adventure, you will visit ancient, ruined settlements, woodland and hills, and a wild beach where you can go for a quick swim.

  1. Ibiza

Ibiza may be famous for its wild parties and nightlife. However, given its stunning beaches, great weather, and numerous activities for kids, it's also an island well-suited for family holidays. What's more, Ibiza has plenty of accommodations ideal for families with kids. In fact, you'll find plenty of family-friendly villas in Ibiza.

Horse riding may be the last thing on your mind when going to beach destinations like Ibiza, but it's an activity you should try while on the island. In the north of the island, you'll find Ibiza Horse Valley, a wonderful place that offers visitors the chance to explore beaches, mountains, and forests while riding a horse.

While you might think that holidaying with the kids means you can no longer go partying, this is not the case. Some beach clubs in Ibiza have entertainment areas for the kids, so they will be kept entertained as you relax at the beach club. These clubs also offer a kid's menu, which includes mini burgers, fries, and more.

  1. Formentera

Formentera is an ideal destination for an unforgettable holiday with your little ones. With calm turquoise waters and good weather, it's a true paradise for families of all kinds. Families can enjoy scenic hikes and bike rides along the coastal paths. In the water, they can take up a wide range of water activities, such as kayaking, paddle surfing, scuba diving, and windsurfing.

One of the best ways to explore Formentera and enjoy its natural landscapes is to go biking. Begin your journey in the charming town of El Pilar de La Mola. From here, cycle your way to Faro de La Mola, the island's oldest lighthouse, and make your way to Faro de es Cap de Barbaria, about 20 km from Faro de La Mola. After biking around the island, spend time in the water and discover the magic of the underwater world. Hop to one of the boats that leave the port of La Savina every morning and take up snorkelling.

Don't leave Formentera without exploring the Ses Salines Natural Park that stretches to southern Ibiza from the northern part of Formentera. This beautiful natural park features the Mediterranean's rich biodiversity. Wear a pair of binoculars and enjoy bird watching with your family in this stunning nesting area of more than two hundred different bird species.
