WHAT I'M READING | THE PUMPKIN SPICE CAFE | LAURIE GILMORE

I actually purchased this book last winter in the sale for £1, after it being over £9 because it was trending and the book of the season. I held out until this winter as I do enjoy reading seasonal books in the right season. I actually switched over to the Kindle after maybe 100 pages in as I'm really not enjoying paperback reading at the minute.

I can honestly say that this is the worst book I have read in my entire life!.

When Jeanie’s aunt gifts her the beloved Pumpkin Spice Café in the small town of Dream Harbor, Jeanie jumps at the chance for a fresh start away from her very dull desk job.

Logan is a local farmer who avoids Dream Harbor’s gossip at all costs. But Jeanie’s arrival disrupts Logan’s routine and he wants nothing to do with the irritatingly upbeat new girl, except that he finds himself inexplicably drawn to her.

Will Jeanie’s happy-go-lucky attitude win over the grumpy but gorgeous Logan, or has this city girl found the one person in town who won’t fall for her charm or her pumpkin spice lattes…

I had to read this one in so many different intervals as the storyline wasn't really a storyline, there were so many different characters, I couldn't keep up with who was who and why they were relevant, and the last 10% of the book had some kind of ending, but really was awful.

I fell asleep so many times trying to read this, but I am terrible for having to see a book through, I read two books in between this one as I didn't want to pick it back up!.

It has been voted the most popular TikTok shop purchase of 2024, but I really struggle to see why it has so much hype and how people are enjoying something so boring.

I would love to know if you have read it and what you think. There are a few other ones that follow on from this one but I am definitely giving them a miss! :)

  1. Oh that's a shame! Looking at the book front, I would have picked it up, but I also cannot deal with so many characters and a disappointing ending sounds bad.

  3. Aww these are my kinds of books ... the festive covers get me every year! If it's not a seaside cookie shop romance, it's a story set in Iceland (with a romance thrown in). Pumpkin season has past now for another year - I'll be looking for this next September!

  6. It is always a bummer when a book falls flat of expectations! I've had a few I really struggled to get through and one or two that I gave up on because of that.

  7. I have never gotten sleep from reading a book and this sounds like a Hallmark movie with a binding. So I'm definitely interested.

  8. I enjoy books that have multiple main characters and lots of plots and stories like this. They always grasp my attention and keep my intrigued. Though at first I was uninterested and thought they were a lot in the beginning, but I will have to check this book out. I am now scared about the end though, LOL!

  9. I guess not all hypes are good. Sorry to hear that you did not like this book. I'm not so much of a reader but I will definitely feel sad if i spend some time on something not good but pretty hyped.

  10. Actually, I haven't read the book but the fact that it has a disappointing end makes me step away from this. Anyways, I'll give it a read.
