WHAT IM READING | I TOOK HER FIRST | SAMANTHA HAYES

Second book of January and I really want to make a conscious effort to read more and less scrolling!. Aiming for 50 books this year, I am going to hit that target if I carry on at this pace!. Samantha Hayes is beginning to become a regular author for me.

This one was one I downloaded before Christmas and I cancelled my Kindle subscription as I am doing a no spend January, so getting through the ones I already have, festive or not! :)

I took her first - Samantha Hayes

I only ever wanted to help, but now a child is missing. And I took her first…

Little Mila has been coming to my art classes for three months, her sleeves frayed, her hair unwashed. Today, nobody arrived to pick her up. It broke my heart – of course I had to take her home with me, just to wait in the warm.

I sit her down in front of a plate of cookies and milk, smiling at how happy she seems. I only turn my back for a second... and
then she’s gone, stolen right out of my kitchen.

When I call the police, they accuse
me of kidnapping. But Mila’s safety is the most important thing, so I insist they check on her. That’s when they tell me she’s safe at home…

That can’t be right. How did she get back to her house, ten miles from my own?

I can’t make sense of what’s happening, but I know one thing: I have to make sure Mila isn’t in danger – and clear my name. But when I break into her house, I find a slip of paper that sends chills down my spine. Mila’s birth certificate –
which names her mother… as me.

Loved this one, and as usual, Samantha's writing captures you after the first few pages. I love this type of story where you are sucked in right from my get go.

The plot twist was brilliant, did not see it coming. My mum is also reading this one, im interested to know what she thinks of it

Definitely worth the read, 4/5 stars.
