VALENTINE’S AT HOME | SELFCARE FAMILY FUN AND VISTA PRINT MUGS

There’s something about this year that’s making me want to take better care of myself. I turn 40 in April, and let me tell you, your girl burns herself out daily. Freelancing while raising kids means I am always switched on, always thinking about the next thing, and then I wonder why I’m crashing by 7pm, ready for bed like I have run a marathon.

This Valentine’s Day is all about self-care. No going out for overpriced drinks or coming home late from the restaurants, it’s cold, the UK weather is miserable, and honestly, I am choosing me

This year, Valentine’s is about slowing down, resting without guilt, and showing my girls that love doesn’t only come from someone else, it starts with how you treat yourself.Yes, I bought myself Valentine’s gifts. Because we are grown, we work hard, and we deserve nice things. Girls, treat yourself. Always.

On the cards for Saturday 14th:

My favourite steak and chips with homemade peppercorn sauce, followed by chocolate covered strawberries that the girls and I are making together. Then it’s a long bubble bath using far too many Lush products in one sitting, you all know I am a little addicted, face masks, and finally a cup of tea in bed with the girls for a movie marathon. Bliss.

On the subject of cups, we all know I love a cup; I have far too many, but they are my guilty pleasure. I am obsessed with my new personalised mug from Vista Print for this Valentine's. These mugs are so affordable, and honestly, the options are endless. You can choose from Vista’s designs or upload your own photos and create something totally personal, whether it’s for yourself or a partner.

I chose the mug with the heart handle, and it’s the cutest little reminder to slow down and savour those quiet moments. I’ll definitely be filling my own cup, literally and figuratively, this Valentine’s weekend.

What I love most about moments like this is that my girls are watching. They see me resting. They see me choosing joy. They see me prioritising myself without apology, and I hope it teaches them that self care isn’t selfish, that burnout isn’t a badge of honour, and that showing up for yourself is one of the most important things you can do.

This Valentine’s, I’m choosing rest and self-love, and I’m raising girls who will do the same, and most probably nick my cup! :)
