FREE AND CHEAP THINGS TO DO IN AND AROUND STAFFORDSHIRE THIS EASTER HALF TERM

If you are anything like me having a few plans sorted for the Easter holidays just makes everything run a little smoother. Two whole weeks is a long time to fill, and although I am all for a chilled movie afternoon on the sofa or a bit of a crafting session at the kitchen table, it’s nice to get out and about too, especially when it doesn’t cost a fortune.

  • So I have pulled together some really lovely, budget-friendly things to do in and around Staffordshire this Easter.

I have not actually been to the Stick Man trail at the National Memorial Arboretum yet, but it’s been on our list for ages, and I think this Easter might finally be the time we go, especially now that I  can drive :).

Nila is obsessed with Stick Man and has loved the story since she was tiny, so I already know she’s going to be so excited seeing all the characters along the trail. It’s about a mile long so it’s perfect for little legs and kids that dont love a long walk :). They have also got extra bits on over Easter like crafts, little trails and activities, and most of it is free, which is always a win, parking here is £5

For those days when you just need something easy, or want to get out and do something but with minimal effort, Odeon Cinemas is doing their kids screenings again. We do this quite a lot in the holidays. Tickets are around £1, you can pack your own snacks, and it ends up being such a cheap little day out that still feels like a treat.

If you are after something outdoorsy but with a bit more going on, the Easter trail at Tittesworth Water is a really nice one to add to the list. We have been here before, but not for the Easter trail. Follow a trail, hunt for hidden eggs, and then head back to collect a little treat at the end. It runs right through the holidays, and you don’t need to book, which I always appreciate because plans and moods can change daily in our house! :)

Another one that looks really fun, especially if your kids love a good story, is the Room on the Broom trail at Cannock Chase. I want to do this one SO BAD!. It’s not just a walk; they are actually doing things as they go, which always makes it more exciting. They help the Witch find her lost bits, collect ingredients for her spell, and there’s a little activity pack you can buy, which makes it feel a bit more special. Plus there is a photo moment at the end.

If your kiddies love getting stuck into something creative, Middleport Pottery have got loads on over Easter. The Play with Clay sessions are really good because they are completely relaxed and self-led, so the kids can just make whatever they fancy and take it home, no pressure for perfection. We have done this before, and it's so chilled.

They have also got a Missing Chick trail running through the holidays, which is a nice little extra if you are  heading there anyway

If you want something really simple, friendly and completely free, there’s a lovely Easter morning happening up at Mow Cop. It’s one of those really relaxed, welcoming things with crafts, snacks and just a nice atmosphere. Perfect if you don’t want anything too full-on but still want to get out for a bit, and I do appreciate that they have thought about snacks for the grown-ups too :)

As well as checking your local groups, libraries and town centre as they have so many little bits and bobs on during the spring half term.

Hopefully, that gives you a few ideas to fill the Easter holidays without spending a fortune. A bit of everything in there depending on your mood and energy levels!, which is exactly what we need to get through the two weeks :)
