LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

Abuse comes in all different forms, almost like an umbrella term -mentally , physically- emotionally. Being a survivor myself of domestic abuse I wanted to raise some awareness and share some ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ advice and really to tell you that you are not alone .

Domestic violence is a very large invisible crime , which tends to stay behind closed doors. 1 in every 4 women and 1 in every 6 men are living with domestic abuse. On average it takes 35 assaults before the victim reports it to the police, this is such a sad report that I have found but yet the facts and these facts are heartbreaking.

There is life after domestic abuse, regardless of what you are thinking or being told.Find that strength   That is inside you, and it is there, trust me, speak up and report it - for yourself, for your children, for your life .

Be gentle with yourself, you are not to blame, nor telling yourself ‘what if’, you have survived and have faced the first hurdle , be proud of yourself . You have done it !

CICA UK specialise in claiming compensation on behalf of victims of crime throughout the UK. Their dedicated team of Solicitors have extensive experience dealing with the claims and are there to help you receive the compensation that you deserve.

Although compensation will never be enough for the ordeal you went through, mentally or physically, but it is what you deserve , and everyone is entitled to gain some control over the trauma that happened in their life .

Build that new life that you need for yourself, or perhaps you have children and you all need that stability. Reach out to family or friends , the more people around you after you report it then less alone you will feel.

Keep active- this would be my most important piece of advice. The more you try and keep yourself active and your mind occupied , you will have less time to dwell , which is no good for your mental health and we want to look at the positive outcome, so try and keep occupied, whether it be with the children if you have any, or joining a gym or local crafts group or a support group for people in the same situation as you.

You deserve every bit of happiness and this is the first step in regaining your life back. Grab it with both hands and be free xx
