It’s that time of year when we are all trying to save the pennies for the dreaded C word . Especially if you have children you will know exactly how costly this time of year can get.
I have come up with 5 ways to help Christmas be a little less stressful and hopefully will help the pennies spread a little further and Christmas can be enjoyed , without breaking the bank.
1. Make a list ...
Now it’s not to late to get prepared. Everyone panics around this time, so put the kettle on , make yourself a cup of tea and make a list.Make a list of everything you have so far,and for who you have it for - I usually do this in columns and match up the present value so all the girls have the same . I have been doing this for years and it has never failed me.
2.Main present
My girls always have a main present , do yours? It’s always been like that in our house ,one main present then lots of little ones . We try and focus on getting the main present first then we are half way there :) always look for a deal when it comes to the main ones . Alessia wants a bike this year so searching for cheap bikes will no doubt get me a good deal that is affordable .
3. Get Selling...
Now is the time that people want some really cheap bargains, and fast!. So go through the kids toys or the unwanted items you have been gifted for birthdays and put them on Facebook or eBay, and get yourself some extra pennies. This way you are making extra room for the new stuff that Santa brings and also making some extra money that can go towards the Christmas groceries :)
4.Get Creative..
We can all go a little crazy with spending on Christmas decorations, baubles and tinsel’s and hanging decor. Why not make some? the girls and I love making paper chains. We cut up strips of paper, decorate them with our Christmas stamper pens and connect them together. I also made a Xmas bauble at blogon this year and have the supplies for the girls to make some of their own .
5. Freebies
There is always free stuff to be found. I have lost count of the amount of free samples and gifts I have got over the years, which can be an awesome present or a little extra for that stocking your making for a friend. On a few occasions we have used these to swap with our secret Santa groups, which is saving money again :)
I hope some of these tips and tricks help you out or maybe you have tried some already? I’d love to know and also if you have any Christmas saving tips to share , go ahead :)
