WHAT I’M READING | JANUARY

So this year I have vowed to read one book a month and I am already on my second book, who am I?!. Being the book worm that I am, and not making any time to read over the past year, I have set this reading challenge and i am going to smash it!

keeping fingers and toes crossed :)

I ordered a few books over Christmas, second hand ones off Amazon. If you are into your books id recommend having a look as some of the newer ones I got for barely £2.25 with postage.

The school for good mothers by Jessamine Chan was next on my list, purely because I had heard it was a 21st century Handmaids tale and that is probably one of my favourite shows of all time, I've still not caught up yet so don't spoil it for me!.

Frida Liu is struggling. She doesn't have a career worthy of her Chinese immigrant parents' sacrifices. She can't persuade her husband, Gust, to give up his wellness-obsessed younger mistress. Only with Harriet, their cherubic daughter, does Frida finally attain the perfection expected of her. Harriet may be all she has, but she is just enough.

Until Frida has a very bad day.

The state has its eye on mothers like Frida. The ones who check their phones, letting their children get injured on the playground; who let their children walk home alone. Because of one moment of poor judgement, a host of government officials will now determine if Frida is a candidate for a Big Brother-like institution that measures the success or failure of a mother's devotion.

Faced with the possibility of losing Harriet, Frida must prove that a bad mother can be redeemed. That she can learn to be good.

I am just a little under half way through this one and what a good read!. It went straight in with the story and I feel for the mum so far, it could change, but wow, what a story!.

let me know if you've read it yet and what you think without giving the ending away :)
