5 ESSENTIAL PRODUCTS FOR A GOOD SKIN CARE ROUTINE

With the huge hype around skin care, the range of creams, serums and gels has expanded enormously in recent years. This only makes it harder to decide which products to buy and which are rather unnecessary. Therefore, going back to basics can't be a bad thing, right? The following 5 products are essential for a good skin care routine.

  1. Cleanser

A good cleanser is the foundation of any skincare routine. It helps remove dirt, excess sebum and impurities that have accumulated on the skin during the day. Choose one that suits your skin type: for dry skin, a cream- or oil-based cleanser is often ideal. Do you have oily skin? Then you should choose a cleanser with salicylic acid or glycolic acid to deeply cleanse the pores.

  1. Toner

A toner balances and hydrates the skin after cleansing. It removes residual dirt and excess sebum and prepares the skin to absorb other products. Choose an alcohol-free one with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or rosewater. These hydrate and soothe without drying out.

  1. Moisturiser

Hydration is essential for healthy skin, regardless of skin type. A moisturiser retains moisture and strengthens the skin barrier, resulting in softer and smoother skin. Whether it's a light gel for oily skin or a richer cream for dry skin, choose one specifically formulated for your skin type. Look for ingredients such as ceramides, glycerin and hyaluronic acid for optimal hydration.

  1. Sun protection

Fourth, sunscreen is definitely not optional in a good skin care routine. Regardless of the weather or season, unprotected sun exposure leads to premature aging, hyperpigmentation and even skin cancer. Therefore, choose a quality sunscreen with at least SPF 30 and apply it generously on your face and other exposed parts of your body.

  1. Exfoliant

Regular exfoliating removes dead skin cells, making the skin brighter and smoother. There are two types of exfoliants: mechanical (scrubs) and chemical (with acids such as salicylic acid or glycolic acid). Choose an exfoliant that suits your skin type and use it once or twice a week.

Even if there are more than 20 different creams in your toiletry bag, if one of the above is missing, your skincare routine is not complete. So make sure you have a good base of products first, before buying other expensive serums. That way, you will have a good skin care routine that will deliver the right results when you are consistent.
