AUTUMN ADVENTURES AT THE PUMPKIN PATCH | SNUGBURY

Yesterday we jumped in the car and headed to Snugbury, one of our favourite places for ice cream. We have been a few times over the years, but this was our first visit to the Snugbury pumpkin patch, and we were so excited! It was also the first time I had ever driven there myself. It’s only about a 40-minute drive, but honestly, I still can’t get over the fact that I can just hop in my car and drive wherever I want. I don’t think that feeling will ever wear off!

When we got there, we noticed a skeleton walk through, which was such a fun little touch. We had such a giggle coming up with names for all the skeletons. I love our girls’ days out and really cherish them, especially now that the girls are getting older and these moments feel even more precious.

We stopped for milkshakes and ice cream. I had the cinnamon sandwich with pumpkin spice ice cream inside, and oh my goodness, it was absolutely delicious, SO good! The girls got chocolate and strawberry milkshakes, and we sat soaking up the sunshine.

Afterwards, we picked up some marshmallows to toast, which was an adventure in itself. Nila was terrified of getting burnt, the joys of having an eight-year-old, so I toasted hers for her.

The girls thought it was the best thing ever, and honestly, there’s just something magical about roasted marshmallows over a real fire. They tasted so much better than the ones you do at home!

We had a walk around the pumpkin patch and then went to visit the animals. The pigs are always our favourites, but they were hiding this time; but the goats came right up to us, which made the girls’ day.

On the drive home, we somehow managed to take a wrong turn, too busy singing along to Billie Eilish, and ended up going about 20 miles out of our way. But honestly, it just added to the fun.

It turned out to be one of the best afternoons we have had this half term and the spontaneous days out that don’t cost an arm and a leg are always the best ones.

It’s days like these that remind me how special the little things are.
