WHAT I'M READING | MADHOUSE DONT TALK TO STRANGERS | MIGUEL ESTRADA

No Spend January has had me in a serious chokehold; not being able to spend has been something else. That said, I have managed to save quite a bit this month, so it’s definitely had a silver lining.

One downside has been no Kindle Unlimited. That meant I was on the hunt for free Kindle books; the struggle has been real! This one caught my eye. its only 116 pages, so a short read, but definitely worth downloading.

Madhouse, dont talk to strangers by Miguel Estrada

Faced with his parents’ divorce, eleven-year-old Lucas runs away from home, hoping his disappearance will somehow bring his family back together. While wandering through empty streets, he’s picked up by a mysterious woman who offers him care, safety, and a loving family.

Things quickly take a dark turn.

Lucas wakes up shackled to a bed in a decaying house in the middle of nowhere. Trapped and terrified, he’s forced to face his deepest fears in order to survive his new reality.

I actually really enjoyed this one. It was a free, short psychological thriller that got me through the final days of the dreaded no-spend January.

It’s unsettling, fast-paced, and easy to finish in one sitting. Perfect if you are looking for something dark but don’t want to commit to a full-length book,or if, like me, you are trying not to spend money but still want something decent to read.

If you are looking for free Kindle books, short thrillers, or quick reads during a reading slump, Madhouse, Don’t Talk to Strangers is well worth downloading.
