During my 40th birthday hotel getaway in Stoke On Trent we stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton Stoke on Trent hotel at Festival Park for a one-night getaway, and I thought it deserved its own little review because it really is such a good find.
It’s only about 20 minutes from home for me, which makes it the perfect easy hotel stay when you just want to get away without a long drive. It’s also really easy to get to, which makes a difference when you are travelling with kids.
ON ENTRANCE
First impressions were really good, beautiful looking, clean, modern, and just a really relaxed feel as soon as you walk in. You also get the warm DoubleTree cookie on arrival, which the girls were very happy about, they tasted amazing!, and still warm!.
THE ROOMS
The rooms were exactly what you want for a short stay—clean, comfortable, and a good size for the three of us. Kettle, hair dryer , fans, iron and ironing board as well as all toiletries .
There’s also room service available, which we took full advantage of later on for our cosy night in.
FACILITIES
The hotel itself has everything you need for a simple spa-style night away. There’s an indoor pool, gym, sauna and steam room, and they also have a pamper area called The Beauty Hideout where you can book in for facials, massages, and beauty treatments, perfect if you want to turn it into more of a proper spa break.
The pool was honestly one of our favourite parts. When we went, it was really quiet, and we pretty much had it to ourselves, which made it feel even more special.
It’s family-friendly too, and they even have floaties there, which is such a small thing but actually so helpful when you’ve got kids. I would recommend booking a swimming slot in advance, though, just in case it gets busy.
There is a sauna and a steam room as well. Alessia and I lasted about 10 minutes before calling it a day, but it’s such a nice option to have if you are after a proper chilled spa break or can hack more than 10 minutes! :)
JOSIAH’S BRASSERIE RESTAURANT
We ate in the hotel restaurant in the evening, which has a really relaxed, family-friendly vibe. It’s one of those places where you don’t feel out of place with kids, which I always think makes such a difference. I’d recommend booking dinner in advance to avoid any waiting around, but just note that drinks aren’t included if you add dinner to your booking, so that’s something to factor in.
Breakfast the next morning was a buffet-style setup, so really easy with little ones. Nila loves a help-yourself breakfast buffet. They had full English cooked breakfasts, cereals, warm pastries, pancakes, tea, coffee, juice, loads!.
PRICE OF OUR STAY
Prices do vary depending on when you book and the type of room you go for. I did splash out a little and booked queen beds for us, but you could definitely do this on a lower budget and still have the same experience.
Overall, I’d honestly really recommend the DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke on Trent if you are looking for a simple, relaxing hotel stay or spa night away. It’s not over-the-top luxury, but it has everything you need for an easy, no-stress break, especially if you are going with kids.
For me, it was exactly what I needed. Close to home, easy, relaxed, and just really good quality time with my girls.
