HOW A SIMPLE SNOW DAY MADE ME RETHINK SCHOOL AND SLOW LIVING

Sitting in bed this morning with a cup of coffee and my kindle while Nila still sleeps , perfect. We have had quite bad snow and couldn’t get out of our road this morning so we’ve had a snow day and honestly , it has got me in my feels.

To be able to wake up and set the day how I wanted was a breath of fresh air. I hate the school system, not because I hate schools, but it’s the fact that we don’t have rights to our own children, i could go on about this all day, it saddens me, a lot!.

Why do we get fined if we want to spend extra time with our kids?, take them on holiday, when we want to. I gave birth to these little humans, why can’t I have an extra day with them in the Christmas holidays to purely make a snowman, it’s so wild to me, the more I think about it, the more homeschooling comes into my mind.

Anyway, snow day! , it has been lovely. we made Jeffrey, Nila comes up with their names , and I dont ask any questions :)

He definately looks more like a seagull and did we laugh about it, it was so funny, we cant unsee a segull now, but we did try and make him look a little cuter with the hat and scarf :)

A cup of tea and biscuits hits so differnt after being in the snow, nothing feels quite like snuggling up on the sofa after making a snowman with a cup of tea, a sweet treat and a movie.

We popped Zootrolpis on, and spent the rest of the evening sewing and reading, it has been bliss and i wish we could have more slower days like this .

  1. I have a friend who homeschools, and the freedom is her favorite part. She said with modern resources, homeschooling is just as good, if not better, than public school.

  2. I agree, a slow day in the snow seems so perfect. Nice to not have to rush around and have the stress of a "normal" school day isn't it?!

  3. I do find that school is so restrictive, especially in the UK where you can be fined! Where I lived in America, my parents just needed me to go to an educational thing and write an essay for holidays to be valid.

  4. I loved how a simple snow day gave you time to slow down and reflect, especially that cosy morning with coffee and your Kindle. It really shows how small moments can shift your perspective. Corinne x

  5. Snow days can be great fun although we rarely get them now. I agree, there are way too many restrictions within schools. It would be nice to cut school once in a while.

  6. My kids love going to school and making friends, I can never pull them out of it. That said, I see your point, and would love to spend more time with them.

  7. Love this and I do not believe you guys are fined for keeping the kids out of school? That is nuts for sure and I have a cousin that has his kids out of school for a week or two for a family trip each year and it is no big deal. I can see the appeal of homeschooling but I think the social aspect of school is so important in its own right. Got to find that perfect balance.

  8. The fines for taking kids out of school is something I am not looking forward to as our little one gets older. I think it's so important to see things in the real world, and holidays during school holidays are just so expensive x

  9. Snow days can be fun and I totally agree that homeschooling comes with a lot of freedom. Thanks a lot for talking about it.

  10. I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed your day with your family. I completely understand what you mean about kids’ school schedules and how much they influence our lives. We’re actually considering homeschooling our kids as well, for more flexibility and to focus on interest-led learning.
