Halloween half-term can always end up a little pricey, but if you plan it well, you can have a great week on a budget!. I have done a round-up of some activities you can do over the October half-term at home :)
HALLOWEEN CRAFTS
An easy and free afternoon in. The girls love crafting. You can search online for free printables, there are so many to choose from. Pick up some colouring books in Home Bargains. Baker Ross also has some adorable craft sets for every season. We have made a Halloween Wreath for our door and got stuck in creating some really cool witch plate decorations!.
CINNAMON PLAYDOUGH
We used to make homemade play dough every year when Nila was younger. Chemical-free and safe to eat, if you like that type of thing :). Add in some spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger - the girls loved making it, pop it in a jiffy bag or tupperware and it lasts a while!.
HALLOWEEN SLIME MAKING
If you have older children who love slime, then Alessia has the best recipe for you!. She has had her fair share of slime-making over the years - Halloween Slime was one of her favourite things to make. Add some creepy crawlers in there for extra effect :)
PUMPKIN CARVING
I think pumpkin carving can be as cheap or expensive as you make it. It all depends on your budget. We have made a cheap Asda trip for pumpkins some years, we have also gone all out at a pumpkin patch :)
SPOOKY MOVIE NIGHT
These are our favourites!. We decorate the living room every year with hanging ghosts and spooky lights - this makes for the perfect setting for a spooky movie night. Decorations can be put into a box and brought out every year, we have had ours now for well over 10 years!. One chooses the movie and one chooses the snacks - happy children all round.
BAKING
Tis the season for baking right?. As soon as October hits, baking and slow cookers are back out !. We love getting our bake on and making treats. We have come up with so many recipes - Halloween Rocky Road, easy Halloween bark and my absolute favourite, pumpkin pie.
TALES IN THE DARK
Nothing beats a spooky book on Halloween. The girls have built up quite a collection over the years. Have a look at what's on our bookshelf this October for some inspiration :)
